MEET OUR BREAKOUT SPEAKERS

Breakout Sessions

Walk & Pray
Connie Maier | Associate Pastor, Glencairn MB Church

God's heart for our community flourishes when we pray for our neighbours. One way to make prayer come alive is to walk and pray. In this session, we will take a brief look at a Scriptural foundation of prayer walking and then put it into practice as we walk the streets nearby. We will practice recognizing where the Kingdom of Jesus is already at work around us, using Scripture, observation and creativity to pray with intention and boldness. Come prepared to walk outdoors for part of our time together.

Sharing Your Faith in Everyday Life
Joyce Klumpenhouwer | Kids Ministry Director, Listowel Evangelical Missionary Church

Do you have a desire to share Jesus with your friends, co-workers, and family, but don't know where to start? In this breakout session, Joyce will talk about how to share your faith in everyday life using some examples of her own experiences, scripture and using 3 Disciple Making concepts.

Bridges out of Poverty
Sara McKnight | Program Supervisor, Ray of Hope Community Centre

What could it look like for us, as a community, to better understand poverty—and respond in ways that bring hope, dignity, and lasting change? This breakout introduces the Bridges Out of Poverty framework, helping us grow in awareness of the social and economic challenges many individuals and families face. Together, we’ll explore the different factors that contribute to poverty and begin to imagine how we can be part of building communities where everyone has the opportunity to flourish. This is an invitation to listen, learn, and be equipped to love our neighbours with greater compassion, wisdom, and purpose.

Faithfulness in the Middle of It
Mandy Young | MC, RP (Qualifying)

For much of my life, I’ve worn the role of the helper, walking with others through difficult seasons, a passion that drove me into my career. Yet, over the past six years, God has invited me into a deeply personal journey where I’ve witnessed His sustaining faithfulness firsthand. Through a life changing health diagnosis and the beauty and heartbreak of becoming a mother to a son who required open heart surgery, I’ve experienced both joy and profound hardship. Through this, I’ve come to know God’s presence in a deeper way. In this session, I’ll share how God has been present through it all. My prayer is that you’ll leave encouraged, reminded of His faithfulness, and hopeful about the fruit that can grow even in seasons marked by grief and uncertainty.

The Unexpected Path to Joy
Vanessa Ploc | Chapter Director of Safe Families Canada | Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge

When life doesn’t turn out the way you hoped, joy can feel distant or even lost. But what if the path back isn’t where you expect? In this breakout, we’ll explore how encountering and living out God’s Khesed, His faithful and compassionate love, can lead to a joy that isn’t dependent on circumstances. Grounded in Psalm 145:13–21 and shaped through story and reflection, this session offers a gentle, practical invitation to step into a life that sees, moves toward, and stays with others and in doing so, experience deeper connection, purpose, and lasting joy.

Open Hands: Learning to Surrender
Tamille Richardson | Pastor, Evergreen Heights Christian Fellowship

We all want to follow Jesus. But if we’re honest, there are often parts of our lives that we hold onto a little more tightly—things like our time, our comfort, our relationships, and our plans. We want the life Jesus offers, but surrender can feel costly, and sometimes risky. In this breakout, we’ll take some time to reflect on what it looks like to trust Jesus with our whole lives. Together, we’ll take an honest look at what often gets in the way, explore some of the questions that help us move toward surrender, and consider what it might look like to open our hands and step into the life Jesus is inviting us into.

Ways to Serve at Flourish

Flourish is a special day in the life of our church, and it takes many helping hands to create a welcoming and meaningful experience for everyone who attends.

If you’d like to be part of serving this year, there are a number of ways to get involved—from helping with setup, registration, food service, and cleanup, to contributing homemade baked goods for our breakfast and snack tables. Whether you have a little time or love to bake, your help makes a real difference in creating a space where women can gather, connect, and encounter Jesus together.
