Our MB Denomination
WMB (Waterloo Mennonite Brethren) Church is a member of the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. We are committed to strengthening your faith through the teachings of the Bible and a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
The MB Confession of Faith
We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.
We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God’s kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.
As Christians, we are called to turn:
from ignorance of God to a personal relationship with God
from bondage of sin and past mistakes to freedom, forgiveness, and healing
from individualism to interdependence with others in the local church
from lifestyle choices that harm us, others, and the earth to choices that nurture wholeness, healing, joy, and peace
from hating enemies and ignoring neighbours to showing love and justice to all
from loving possessions to sharing with all in need
from aimless existence to a mission of representing and proclaiming God’s kingdom on earth
As Christians, we look forward to the day when God will once again send Jesus to bring all things under God’s eternal rule.
BAPTISM & MEMBERSHIP
At WMB Church, baptism and membership are practiced together, as a part of a believer’s discipleship journey.
We believe the church is a gathering of baptized followers of Jesus—adopted into the body of Christ and committed to growing together in a covenant community.
WHAT IS BELIEVER’S BAPTISM?
Believer’s baptism is a personal and public declaration of a new association with Christ, a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection. Through baptism at WMB, those who are baptized are adopted into, and are accountable to, the WMB Church family as their home church – with new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Our practice of baptism and membership is shaped by the Canadian MB Confession of Faith, which calls us into a covenant community. In baptism, a believer is welcomed not only into the family of God, but into a specific local church family. Through this public confession of faith, we commit to grow as disciples together—offering mutual care, love, service, and accountability. As someone enters membership through baptism, the church also commits to walk with them in discipleship and support.

A Member of WMB Church professes Jesus Christ, son of the living God, as Savior and Lord, has been saved by grace through faith, has repented of one’s sins, received God’s forgiveness, and has been baptized as a believer. A Member is committed to trust Jesus to live out discipleship and witness as an active participant in our church community guided by WMB’s mission, values and theological convictions. Members joyfully commit to mutual love, care, support, accountability and mutual submission that is part of life in community, by God’s grace, for His glory.

Our new Membership Commitment now orients church membership around one’s discipleship journey, actively practiced in the local church as we commit to Jesus and one another, by God’s grace, for His glory.
Current covenant members are invited to sign the new membership commitment, to renew their membership at WMB, anytime prior to AGM 2026. Signed forms can be handed in at the Church Office.
