Global Partners

WMB participates in Kingdom building in other parts of Canada and around the world by investing in strategic Global Partners. Through our Global Partners, we have opportunities to engage in short-term, cross-cultural mission experiences abroad and mobilize people and resources for long-term missions.

Komeza Life (formerly Impact Rwanda) is dedicated to the holistic and sustainable transformation of people through education, mentoring and leadership development modeled after Jesus. We believe that success looks different for each person, so cultivating relationships is at the heart of what we do. Our mission is to encourage, empower and equip everyone we journey with so they’re enabled to fully live the life they were created for. WMB Church’s partnership with Komeza life includes their ministry in the Kiziba Refugee Camp, among Congolese refugees, and a sister church relationship with Community Bible Church in Kigali. Jen and Serge live in Kigali with their three kids and work with a broad team to give leadership to this ministry.

Lisbon MB ChurchES

Partnering with church plants that serve and share Christ among some of the least reached people in Europe

LOCATION: Lisbon, Portugal

MISSIONARY PARTNERS: Joanna & Jonathan Gutierrez

NATIONAL LEADERS: Marques & Celma Mente, Bruno & Inês Parente, Raúl & Alicia Rincón, Nadine Brakowski

SENDING ORGANIZATION: Multiply

WMB Church partners in a sister church relationship with our Mennonite Brethren Churches in Lisbon, which include a diverse mix of Portuguese, African and Russian churches. These churches are sharing Christ among some of the least reached people in Europe, through relationships, community outreach and practical acts of support and kindness. In a country where only 1% of the population believes in the Bible, they have seen much growth and many lives changed. In recent years, the churches have developed a vibrant workplace ministry, including the Aponte Incubator Centre and the Massama second hand shop. Otto and Marjorie Ekk have been missionaries in Lisbon since 1992 and they were joined by Joanna in 2017, to teach, encourage and equip leaders and help shape vision.

Dortmund Church Planting

Planting a church in the city of Dortmund, Germany, that gives witness to the reconciling light and love of Jesus

LOCATION: Dortmund, Germany

MISSIONARY PARTNERS: Alex & Carla Suderman

NATIONAL LEADERS: Walter & Ina, Beni & Franzi (Franziska), Johanna, Davina

SENDING ORGANIZATION: Multiply

Dortmund was once the industrial heart of Germany but has suffered difficult economic times in the past few decades. There is a great need for the hope of Christ and more churches in this region. Jesus has called a team of Canadians and Germans together to go to the people of Dortmund, Germany, to plant a church there that gives witness to the reconciling light of Jesus. This is a city which the MB churches in Europe have been praying about for many years. Dortmund is a very “post-Christian” city, where people live as though “God is dead.” The team seeks to plant a church that is more than sustainable, but thriving and seeking to plant more new churches. God called Alex & Carla Suderman, and their four kids, from Kitchener MB Church to Europe in 2018, and their team has begun PräsentKirche, “Present Church”, and are already witnessing people respond to the gospel.

Austria 2025

We are excited to be sending a team to connect with, encourage and pray over missionary, Sarah Smutny (Reed) and the church in Steyr, Austria, this fall!

If you have any questions please contact Greg Reed or Renée Serez.

Team Purpose:

We are a team of 9 WMBers who have been invited to enter into Sarah Smutny’s (Reed) community in Steyr, Austria for 10 days, October 3-13.

The goal of this first team being sent from WMB Church is to break new ground in our relationship with the Austrian church (Freikirche am Schlosspark). We will begin the work on a relational “bridge” between KW and Steyr, work which we believe starts with prayer: to seek the Lord to know what He’s doing, so that we can join in His work. We imagine as we build relationships across this “bridge”, not only will we sense what the Lord is doing in Steyr, but also in our own hearts, community, and the broader Kingdom of God.

Each of us on the team has sensed a call to mature in the spiritual discipline of prayer, and we’re already seeing growth as we’ve done a 4-week study on prayer together and have been praying over the work that’s to come.

Call to Action:

We believe the work of bridge-building extends beyond just our team… we need the whole church involved. We ask that you consider how you might support the work of our team.

You can do this in two ways:

  1. Prayer - Join our WhatsApp prayer group to receive prayer requests and updates. Click here to join. (Note: This won’t be active until mid September)

  2. Finances - As a team, we need to raise at least $9,000. You can give to our team using:

    • Credit Card at Donate - WMB Church (make sure to select “2025 Austria Mission Trip” in the drop-down menu)

    • Interac e-Transfer to give@wmbchurch.ca (make sure to put “STM Austria” in the Message field)

    • Cheque. Payable to WMB Church, include “STM Austria” in the memo. Send to: WMB Church, 245 Lexington Road, Waterloo ON N2K 2E1
