To kick off the fall, we are joining in 24/7 Prayer’s “Week of Global Prayer”. From 12 pm, September 6 to 9 am, September 13, we are inviting our church to sign up for one-hour time slots and fill this week with prayer. We believe that God not only answers our prayers, but He meets us when we pray.

We know that a whole hour of prayer can seem intimidating, so we have put together a prayer guide to help walk you through how to pray for your family, your church, your community, and your world. So whether you sign up to pray over your lunch hour or in the middle of the night, at the Waterloo Site’s prayer room or at the foot of your bed, we encourage you to take a step of faith and spend an hour in prayer with Jesus this week.

  • Song suggestions:

    Reflection: We all carry pain from ways that people have hurt us, and we all have made mistakes in our turn. Do you need to ask for forgiveness, or do you need to forgive someone else? Spend some time in quiet, asking the Holy Spirit to show you.

    1. What things has God done in your family and you? Thank Him for those things.

    2. What things has God done in your friend group? Thank Him for those things.

    3. Who doesn’t yet know and follow Jesus in your family and friend group? Ask God to draw them to Himself; ask him to open their eyes to truth.

    4. Are there situations where family members and friends are having difficulties and challenges? Are there things that are breaking your heart where you want to see change and good things happen. Ask God to be involved and pray specifically for His good will to be done.

    5. Are there family members and friends who are believers? Ask God to encourage them to grow in their love for Jesus and to be all that He created them to be.

    1. What things has God done in the past for WMB + KMB and for the people in its community? Thank Him for those things.

    2. Are there people or situations within the WMB + KMB community that are breaking your heart? Ask God to be involved and pray specifically for His good will to be done.

    3. Pray for the youth leaders and youth as they start a new year. Pray for wisdom as the leaders make decisions. Pray that the youth will desire to follow Jesus and would learn what that means for their lives.

    4. Pray that the teachers in our community would be salt and light in their schools.

    5. Pray that there would be safety on busses and in school yards and that students would make the transition from holidays to school well.

    6. Pray for the daycare at KMB. Pray for safety for the workers and that the construction goes well and is completed on time. Pray for all the babies and children who will be cared for in the daycare once it opens.

    7. Pray that people would sign up for Alpha and would learn to know Jesus this fall.

    8. Pray for the seniors as they adjust to new leadership.

    9. Pray for the Worship Teams as they prepare and lead worship each Sunday.

    10. Pray for each of the pastors in this new ministry year, that they would be energized for the work before them and would experience God’s provision in their lives and ministry.

    11. Pray that the sermon series this fall causes growth in those who attend church.

    1. What things can you thank God for in our city and country – things like we have freedom to worship without persecution, we live with peace not war, etc.

    2. Are there people or situations within our city and country that are breaking your heart? Ask God to be involved and pray specifically for His good will to be done in those situations and with those people.

    3. Pray for our leaders – Mark Carney (federally), Doug Ford (provincially), and any municipal leaders that you know. Pray for integrity and for wisdom in the decisions that they make each day. Pray for a desire for them to serve the people and not for their own advancement or fame.

    4. Pray for churches across our city and country that they would follow what Jesus wants them to do and be a powerful witness of God’s love and presence in whatever community they are in.

    5. Pray for the police that they would be safe, that they would have integrity, and that they would be encouraged in their work.

    6. Pray for the neighbourhoods within Kitchener-Waterloo that there would be safety for families and children.

    7. Pray for the government as it makes decisions about a whole host of things like immigration, health care, education, senior care, etc.

    1. Thank God that Jesus came and that His love is for everyone.

    2. Thank God that His Word is translated into many languages so that people can read about Him in their own language. Thank God for His people wherever they are in our world.

    3. Are there people or situations within in our world that are breaking your heart? Ask God to be involved. Pray specifically for His good will to be done in those situations and with those people. In future, when you see or hear news, pray in the moment for those situations.

    4. Pray for any missionaries that you know. Pray that they would be encouraged and not grow weary. Pray that they would find ways to connect with people and to explain about God’s love and His desire to know them. Pray for their safety and for having everything that they need to live and do the work they are doing.

  • Spend some time praising God for who he is, for his qualities like faithfulness, love, goodness, patience, power, sovereignty, compassion, forgiveness.  You could read Psalm 103 as your praise prayer.

 Prayer Opportunities at WMB & KMB

  • Monday Morning Prayer

    Start the week by grounding your heart in prayer. Join us at KMB every Monday morning from 6:30-7:30am for a simple, drop-in time to pray together for the week ahead—lifting up our families, workplaces, church, and community as we seek to follow Jesus and participate in God’s mission.

  • Prayer Ushering

    During our Sunday morning services at both WMB & KMB, prayer ushering is a time to come forward to agree in prayer for a physical, mental, financial, emotional need or celebration for yourself or on someone’s behalf.

  • Kids & Youth Prayer Community

    The Kids & Youth Prayer Community is made up of people from our Church family who commit to praying weekly for our kids, youth, and their ministries. We believe the next generation—and the programs that support them—must be grounded in prayer.   • WMB Prayer Room

    The Prayer Room is a space to sit in the presence of God. Whether you want to engage in the different prayer exercises we have set up, take communion, or simply be with Jesus, this space is open to you. We hope that it will be a quiet place to encounter the Holy Spirit through prayer. 

    Feel free to pop in Monday-Friday from 9AM-4PM or Sundays from 9AM-12PM.
